The Planning Commission met on September 30,
2002.
KLM Builders recently purchased the Hunt Club Estates development from Charles Wonderlic. This 110 acre subdivision is located just north and west of the intersection of Routes 12 and 173.
At the September 30, 2002, meeting the Planning Commission approved the development of four new home sites which will be used for model homes. This subdivision is now has been renamed Sunset Ridge Estates. This is the first stage of the revitalization.
The village board approved Hunt Club Estates ten years ago. Very little was changed from the original agreement between the developer and the village board.
Kim Meier of KLM Builders said that the four houses are plotted exactly as they were originally with curbs on both streets and a street light planned. Meier’s strategy is to appeal to the empty-nesters. Each house will be constructed with a full basement. What some builders consider options - such as oak trim, Pella windows, fireplaces, central air, ceramic tiles and Kohler plumbing fixtures – will be included in each home. “The presentation will speak for itself,” said Meier. “The second stage will begin next summer when we plat the balance of the property; the third stage will be the build-out to Route 173.” According to Meier it will take five to seven years to build and sell all of the homes. The selling price will range from $250,000 to $350,000 per home.
In a post-meeting interview Eric Mayer, a member of the Plan Commission, said, “Meyer is a good developer with a fine reputation. The Planning Commission and the village seem to be very comfortable working with Meyer.”
Former village president, Bruce Hunter, said, “A good plan is timeless and is a great example of the village driving the process. Mr. Meyer’s reputation is also very good. His plan includes many details about the development which helps the commission make their decision.“
